The word "geek" is the slang of menthapethamine. The lyrics were also inspired by Amstrong's own experiences, as well as the people around him that he saw lose control of theor lives becausw of their addictions. Featuring a hardrocking three chord riff, the song pays homepage to the band 1970s punk influences, Including the Ramones and the Sex Pistols. The song ended up beimg a moderate radio hit.

5. BASKET CASE

If Boulevard of Broken Dreams and 21 Guns had an acoustic guitar and moderate midtempo, Basket Case has an electric buzzsaw guitars and fast lighting drums!! 4. BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS

From the 7th studio album again, American Idiot. No doubt there are many great songs from this album. Such as Boulevard of Broken Dreams, a song with moderate midtempo characterized by somber and bleak lyrics. It speaks about the main charactet of the album, Jesus of Suburbia. With the moderate tempo and beautiful tone, it's not weird if this song peaked at no 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the Green Day's most successful song in the U.S. it sold over 2 million copies in the U.S. and worldwide sales exceeding 5 million copies.

3. GOOD RIDDANCE (TIME OF YOUR LIFE)

Some different sound of Green Day, a sweet acoustic ballad song. Although it was not issued as a physical single at the time of its original release in the U.S., "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" later went on to sell over 2.6 million copies as a digital download in the country. The song is also certified Gold in the U.K. for sales of 400,000.

2. GOING TO PASALACQUA

Alright.. we're going back to Green Day's early album, wich is recorded by independent record label, yeah it's 39 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours. Almost all (or maybe all) of the song from this album talk about love (I mean not politics hahaha, such as recently Green Day's songs). From this song, we can feel how beautiful a young love is. In this song, Armstrong is expressing his insecurity and anxiety about a relationship that he's in. He thought the feeling was gone, but it's still there, still in his heart and making him want to be with the one he loves. Thinking about them, he realizes that his attitude hasn't changed a bit and he's still as much in love as he had been before. And so he decides that no matter what he will stay with the person he loves.

1. LONGVIEW

YEAH!! We reach no.1!! Yep! Longview. One of the Green Day's most "Punk-sound". The song is from their 3rd studio album, Dookie and was released as the lead single. The song was the band's first single to the top of the Modern Rock Chart in the U.S. The music video for this song received heavy airplay on MTV and is largely credited for breaking Green Day into Mainstream Popularity. The song describes intense boredom. Lyrically, the song is about a day spent sitting around the house. Doing absolutely nothing of importance, masturbating, and smoking until the days are no longer fun. Longview also is a song that has one of the coolest bassline intro in the rock history.
